Common questions
Conference Team Skills FAQ
Things people ask before getting started. If your question isn't here, write to info@msg2ai.xyz.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. The browser path is just copy-paste into Claude.ai. The whole reason these are 'skills' rather than software is that the work happens in plain English — yours, going in, and Claude's, coming back.
Will Claude make things up about my event?
Claude will produce a plausible draft from whatever context you give it. The skills are written to ask for the missing pieces first — event date, scale, audience — before producing output. Treat the first response as a strong first draft, not a final answer.
Is my conference data safe?
Your conversations stay in your Claude account. The skills don't send anything anywhere on their own — the only data Claude sees is what you paste or what's reachable through integrations you choose to connect.
What does it cost?
The skills are free, open source (MIT). You pay for Claude — Claude.ai has a free tier and a $20/mo Pro plan that covers most organizers.
What if our committee is not a tech team?
That's the most common case. Use the Claude.ai browser path. Each committee member loads whichever skill matches their role and starts a conversation — no terminal, no install.
What are Claude Skills?
A Claude skill is a prepared brief that turns Claude into a specialist for a specific job. It is a markdown file (SKILL.md) with two parts: a description with trigger phrases, which Claude uses to decide when to activate the skill, and the brief itself — the role, capabilities, working style and tools. Skills don't change Claude itself; they give Claude the context a strong onboarding doc would give a new hire.
Which skills are included?
Eight: General Chair (Conference Chair), Program & Content Chair, Sponsorship Lead, Marketing & Communications, Venue & Logistics Coordinator, Finance & Registration Chair, Attendee Experience Lead, and a Vibe Coder that ships the event website. Install one or all eight — each is self-contained.
How do I install the skills?
In Claude.ai, create a Project and paste any SKILL.md into the project instructions — no install. For Claude Code, run npx @msg2ai/conference-team-skills install (Node.js 18+), or git clone the repository into ~/.claude/skills/conference-team-skills. You can also download the repository as a ZIP from GitHub.
What's the difference between Claude.ai and Claude Code for these skills?
Claude.ai is the browser app: sign in, open a project, paste a skill, start chatting — no installation, and the fastest way to try one. Claude Code is Claude on your computer (terminal, desktop app or IDE extension): the same conversation, but Claude can also read your files, send emails, update calendars and use the tools you connect.
Do I need a GitHub account?
Only to pull the skills onto your machine with npx or git clone, which run git clone against the public repository — you need Git installed, and a free GitHub account avoids rate limits. If you don't want to use GitHub at all, use the Claude.ai Projects path, which is browser-only.
Do I have to call a skill by name?
No. Each skill listens for the questions and requests that role would actually receive — ask the question and the right skill activates. In Claude Code you can also invoke one directly, for example /conference-general-chair.
Do the skills work without integrations?
Yes. Each skill works without any connectors — integrations such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Zoom, Canva, Twenty CRM, ClickUp/Asana, Vercel and Obsidian just make them more powerful. Pick the ones your team already uses.
What is the shared Knowledge Base?
Every skill is designed to read from and write to one shared Knowledge Base for your event — a Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive/SharePoint/Box folder or a Notion workspace — with a canonical folder structure (event brief, brand and voice, prior events, sponsors, speakers, venue logistics, finance and registration, attendees, meeting notes). The General Chair skill creates it if you don't have one, and it can be bootstrapped from an existing event website with Firecrawl.
Do the skills work together?
Yes. They share context: when you ask the General Chair for a board update, it pulls the sponsor pipeline from Sponsorship, budget from Finance and speaker confirmations from Program.
Can I use the skills in Codex or Cursor?
Yes. Each SKILL.md is plain markdown. In OpenAI's Codex CLI, copy it into your project as AGENTS.md. In Cursor, save it as a project rule in .cursor/rules/*.mdc.
How do I update the skills?
If you installed with Git or npx, run git pull inside ~/.claude/skills/conference-team-skills. If you downloaded the ZIP, download it again and replace the folder. If you pasted into Claude.ai, copy the updated SKILL.md from GitHub into your project instructions again.
What powers the Attendee Experience skill?
It runs on two MSG2AI tools: AI Ambassador, an SMS and WhatsApp attendee concierge with no app download, and ActionNotes, AI-powered session and meeting capture. Both are optional — the eight skills work without them.
Ready to try one?
Paste a skill into Claude.ai in about five minutes, or install all eight for Claude Code with one command.
